AI Cycling Coach · Comparison
The best AI cycling coach in 2026: 12 apps compared
Every training app calls itself an AI coach these days. For some that means a coach you can chat with, one that knows your data and can change your plan. For others it's an algorithm that picks tomorrow's workout, or a fixed plan that scales to your FTP. Those are very different things, and the name on the box won't tell you which one you're buying.
We make LeCoach, so we're not neutral and won't pretend to be. What we can do is be specific. Below are the 12 apps cyclists compare most often, each measured on the same four points: what it costs, how it changes your training, whether it actually uses your HRV and sleep, and who it suits. For some riders another app is the better choice, and we'll tell you which.

How we compared them
- Price is the list price on each app's own pricing page, in the currency it charges. We last checked in July 2026. Prices change, so check before you buy.
- How it adapts is what actually happens when you miss a ride, sleep badly or feel great. Depending on the app, that means a coach changing your plan, an algorithm swapping workouts, or a template that only scales to your FTP.
- Uses your HRV and sleep means the app pulls those numbers from your wearable automatically and does something with them. Showing you a chart isn't the same as training on the data, so we say which one it is.
- Pick this if is our view of who each app suits best, including when that isn't us.
Three questions that narrow it down
Do you want to talk to your coach?
Four apps here have a chat coach that knows your data: LeCoach, Athletica, FasCat and CyclingCoach AI. Humango's assistant also takes requests in plain language. Athletica's coach only gives advice, by design. LeCoach's coach can make the change for you, whether that's moving a session, reworking a week or writing a new workout.
Should this morning's data change today's workout?
If you wear a Garmin, Whoop or Oura, check whether the app uses it. JOIN, TrainerRoad, Xert, Wahoo SYSTM and Zwift don't. TrainingPeaks and Intervals.icu store it and leave the reading to you. LeCoach, Athletica, Humango, FasCat and CyclingCoach AI pull it in automatically. LeCoach scores your HRV, resting heart rate and sleep against your own rolling baseline, and on a bad morning it suggests an easier session before you head out. More on how that works in the LeCoach Recovery Score article.
Where do you ride?
TrainerRoad, JOIN, Wahoo SYSTM, Zwift and Xert have their own trainer players. LeCoach doesn't. Its workouts go through Intervals.icu to Zwift, MyWhoosh, Rouvy and your Garmin or Wahoo head unit, so you ride them wherever you already ride.
Our honest take on LeCoach
LeCoach is a good fit if you:
- want a coach you can ask anything, at any hour, about today's session, fueling, a change to your plan or why your legs feel empty, with answers based on your own rides and wellness data
- want a plan built around your profile and your goals, and more than one goal at once if you need it (say, an A-race plus better 5-minute power)
- wear a Garmin, Whoop, Oura or Apple Watch and want that data used without having to type anything in
- want to know whether your plan is working. The Plan Health Score shows whether the plan is well built, whether you're sticking to it and whether your fitness is moving
- use Intervals.icu, or want the deepest Intervals.icu integration you can get (see best AI coach for Intervals.icu)
- want all of this on the web or in the iOS and Android app, for less than most of the apps above
LeCoach is not the right choice if you:
- race triathlon or Hyrox, because LeCoach only plans cycling and running
- want one app that also controls your smart trainer
- work with a human coach who needs a coach dashboard
